Some simple 1971 facts first: bread was 25 cents a loaf. Eggs were $1.18 a dozen, A stamp cost 8 cents while an average house would set you back $28,300 - and all from an average income of $11,583 a year (minimum wage was $1.60/hr). 1971 was a little confusing. The Vietnam War was still going on, the US invaded Laos, and the movies gave us Shaft and Dirty Harry cleaning things up vigilante style . . . ”do you feel lucky punk?”.
American kids of 1971 were busy learning how to enunciate correctly from the Electric Company while shoveling spoonfuls of Count Chocula and Cocoa Pebbles cereal into their mouths. Meanwhile, the teenagers of 1971 were getting busy in their Ford Pinto’s as Led Zeppelin played Stairway To Heaven.
But all 1971 really wanted to do was to buy the world a Coke and keep it company - right on!

My first car was a 67 Mustang. I can also remember cruising around Frischs. What fun days!!!!. The more memories that are brought up, helps me remember more too. I've never been good at remembering things, so thanks for bringing them back. Take Care, Connie

WOW, my first car (in my name) was a '55 Cadillac! don't laugh!, we were living in Alaska and nobody drove anything new up there. Dennis and I rebuilt the engine just before leaving AK. and we drove it home down the Akaskan Highway (talk about a TRIP) over 1500 miles home! I still drove it over a year after we returned here ( she was pink!)I don't know what the cost, Dennis bought it for me as an anniversary gift. The car was big enough, he thought it would be safe!

I think the car was once owned by ELVIS.
