My trip to Ohio went well..
I arrived in So Lebanon about 4pm.. took some flowers to Dad and Mom's graves up on the hill. While looking around the cemetary.. noticed a lady jogging.. She stopped at a grave site. After talking for a moment.. I discovered it was Emily McDonalds younger sister (can't remember her name).. We talked for awhile and I told her to make sure Emily.. and Darlene Center knew that Chuck was asking about them.. and they should make plans to come to the reunion in June.
Later I parked my truck in the parking lot at the SL post office.. and took a walk. Up and down the old streets.. Went passed our old house on McKinley Street. Walked up through the subdivision.. near the Old Kash's Bargain Barn store.
Spent some time with my son (Brian) in Loveland. We went downtown Loveland on Friday night for dinner.. A little local place called Paxton's.. pretty nice.
Saturday .. we talked a bunch.. went shopping.. and bought a new recliner for his house. Later we ate at a great Chinese Buffet.. Chinese Fusion.. at the Fields Ertle exit off I-71. Spent the evening at his house watching TV and just visiting.
I went home on Sunday morning.

Chuck, Sounds like your trip was full of memories,I hope all good, I'm sure it had some sadness too. What did you think about the old baptist church being gone! That made me very sad when I saw it. It was neat that you saw Emily's sister.I'm sure you enjoyed the quality time with Brian,we have been to Paxton's too! Wish we could have gotten together. More soon! Carol

Hi Chuck, remember me? Sorry I didn't know you were coming to town. My Dad is at the So. Lebanon Cementary. It's been 19 years. I live in Lebanon now with my husband, Dennis Tolson ( class of 68 ). We've been married 35 years ( 36 in July) . We have 3 daughters, 31, 29 and 19 1/2 . The oldest 2 are married and have children, they both went to Kings. We moved here when our youngest was in 2nd grade. She just graduated from Lebanon HS class of 2005. I didn't graduate with the class, we got married that summer before my senior year, moved to Dayton for a few months, then to Anchorage , Alaska for 2 years. I always hated school, so I felt like I never missed anything ( I wasn't very social in school and didn't have many friends) until I started helping to plan this reunion. I've got to know some of my fellow classmates that I never knew while in school. It's been so much fun. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone after all these years. I"ve seen Jola (Allen), Darlene (Allen), lately and they both say they are coming, but waiting to send money. Gary Bryant lives here in Lebanon and is planing on being there. Most are excited about the reunion! Glad your trip up here went well, looking forward to seing you again! Sheila (Taylor) Tolson

Hi Sheila, Is has been fun working on the reunion, hasn't it?? Thank you for all your help. The best thing has been getting to know our childhood friends as "adults" that has been the neatest thing!! It was fun to visit with you at McDonalds playland as well. Doing the "grandma" thing. Take care, Carol

Yes Chuck, I went to So. Lebanon. I was real tall and skinny! I'm almost as tall, but not that skinny little girl any more. I think most of us have "filled out" since HS! I bet you haven't changed much!

Chuck, Sounds like you had a good trip to Ohio. I plan on going there Easter weekend if my daughter can get off work. I don't get up there very often. My dad passed away in 2002. My mom and brothers and sisters still live up there. I enjoy it when I do get to go. I miss it, but I really like it where I live now. Just a real small town. I am about and hour and 20 minutes from Clinton. We shop at the Knoxville Mall. It's a 5 hour trip for me to moms. She lives right off Interstate 75. Glad you made it back safely. Will post again soon. Connie

Hi Chuck & Connie, Just wanted to touch base with you guys & let you know we just got home from your direction. We were so busy with our grandbabies I didn't get any phone calls made. Our youngest Addy (2) was very sick. We stayed at the Country Inn at Strawberry Plains & the kids all swam & played. We walked around at the Italian fest.on Sat. but it was so cold. We took our daughter & her 2 kids with us on the trip so it was very busy but fun. I have a call in to Glada Simpson's sister Karen & she is going to pass the info to her & hopefully she will call. Well, gotta unpack now. I am really getting anxious now. BY THE WAY CHUCK, if you're not yet an adult, don't bother, it's more fun to be young even if it's just young at heart! We love you any ol' way! Carol

Hi Guys; I spoke with my sister, Sue, today. I've been keeping her updated regarding our web-site. She's living in the Centerville, Ohio area now, and spent the day with some of her grandchildren. She mentioned that she had taken them to South Lebanon, just to drive around and show them where she grew up. She continued on by telling me that the Doughman house is up for rent again, and Parkview has changed owners, and has a new name. She asked me about several of your brothers and sisters that she bonded with in school (I've avoided that question because you never know what unhappiness you may dredge up). The point is, that her roots in our little village run as deeply as ours do. She drives through the little streets, past the school, the houses of our friends, and the house we grew up in (it's empty and run down now; we actually talked about going together and buying it back). WHATEVER FOR!? ...for no other reason than, we love it. It was a wonderful little place to grow up, wasn't it?
Gil and I are hoping to make a trip to Ohio in the fall; maybe we can all get together then. I'll keep you posted.
