I hope you both have wonderful days. Barb, you and i don't really know each other, but from this site, I feel that I've gotten to know a lot about you and your family. You do have a beautiful family, and I admire your passion for the Oz! Bonnie, if you're out there reading this, come back in here and talk to us. I think I can speak for everyone when I say you are truly missed!
Thelma, I am sorry to hear about your family health issues. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Tom

Hi Barb, How could I miss wishing a special belated happy birthday to my "B-Day Buddy"? I hope it was wonderful. I've been enjoying your Disney Pics. It looks like somebody had a little crush. lol I have a fun memory to share with you for your birthday. It was the high school year that your family moved across the street from mine, there on Sunset Drive. You had a medium blue Mustang, and I rode to school with you in the mornings. We would crank up the radio, and chat and laugh all the way to school. One morning we were following closely behind a slow moving vehicle...or at least we thought it was moving too slowly. We made kind of a corporate decision that you should pass this tortoise. The radio was blaring, Amos Moses by Jerry Reed. as you began to bare down on the accelerator. I remember my heart rate picking up as the wind began to wildly toss our freshly combed hair. You pulled into the passing lane, and just seemed to sit there. We both gave a panicky squeal, and suddenly you floored it, taking us safely around the other vehicle. I looked over at you trying to appear composed. You were red-faced and breathless. We shared a nervous giggle, and then you confessed that it was the first time you had ever passed anyone. Whoa! Kids can be so foolish. I believe we both became a little wiser that day...and Thank the Lord, lived to tell about it. We really got to know each other well that year.
Hope to see you in November. Love, Bonnie

Bonnie...I do kinda remember that happening.....I didn't live on Sunset very long but I really liked having you across the street and it was great having a buddy to ride to school with.
I know I wasn't to sure about passing cars and I was really nervous...did you get back in the car after that?

Thanks Thelma and Gary. I would love to have spent it with you, and my reunion family.
Can you believe it is 2010? Can anybody remember what we imagined the year 2001 would bring? Well, I don't exactly have a levitating vehicle in the driveway, but all of my daycare preschoolers think "Nellie Belle", my apple-red Intrepid, can fly..and she has, a time or two. The fantasy is pure illusion, of course. First you must have an intense imagination, and since I am a large child, my imagination is quite intact. As we're driving along, Nellie Belle whispers to me that she feels like showing off a bit for the children. I repeat her wishes to the kids to get their approval. Of course, we all agree that it is a perfect day to go flying. I remind the kids to tighten their seat belts as we are coming to the top of the hill. I begin to speak faster and more excitedly as if the car has taken over the controls. Just before we crest the hill, I begin to squeal and roll down all the windows. The sudden rush of wind gives the illusion of intense speed (this works especially well in cold weather), and the children and I squeal all the way down the hill as I call out to Nellie to remember to "brake and watch for the trees and birds". Amazingly, we arrive safely to the stop sign with all four tires on the ground; the kids begging to go "again". If only we could all see life through the eyes of a child, even if for only a few minutes at a time, to remain focused on what matters, and let go of what never will, to understand that happiness comes to us in nuggets, and find joy in simply waking up in the morning, to speak our hearts without fear, and reach out to comfort another's "owie", by sharing whatever is in your hand at the moment. Children know "secrets" that grown-ups forget. My daycare children have helped me through a dark place. They make me laugh at their little tricks, and tell my silly stories, and sing my silly songs. They have kept my focus on the right things..healing things. I am so very grateful for every one of these little people. ..."suffer the little children to come unto me "...
