Come on you all from KME! Dig deep into your youth there has to be some really good memories and stories. Sometimes just something little can trigger someone elses memory Look what happened to the SL "kids" I think the old candy machine jogged the memory of a few and it "snowballed" from there. We want to know things about your youth that made you who you are come on, now THINK

Let's go back to embarrassing moments that we can recall...
Love ya, Bon ;D

OK. I'll try one. I remember in the fifth grade at KME (Mrs. Parker's class) was when Kennedy was shot. November 1963. It was announced it over the PA system (I think by Mr. Mays) and all the teachers ran out into the hallway and huddled and spoke in low tones. I remember Steve Knox saying, "There's going to be a war." Remember that Steve? -Ken

No Ken to be honest I don't remember saying that but it does appear I was correct. We have had several wars since President Kennedy was shot. So I guess I was right in saying there was going to be a war, but incorrect as to how many wars we would have. I'm sorry dear members for making slight of our country at war. I've found if I laugh at the things that scare me the most, they seem to not scare me as bad. " That which does not kill me will make me stronger" to paraphrase a famous quote. Who can tell me the author of this quote? This is only a pop quiz but will count as part of your grade! ;D

Hey! This is supposed to be about KME memories! Here's another. Mrs. Parker laid out in her yard and fell asleep sunbathing. Had blisters on her face and missed a day or two of class. At least I think it was Mrs. Parker. Can anyone verify this account? -Ken

Well, it looks like all the KME people are too old to remember anything! We need a KME "Bonnie Abner" to start shakin loose some dirt , er, I mean "interesting" stories on here! How about third grade? I had Mrs. Kent. Anyone remember her? She sang "Somewhere over the rainbow" for us one day. It may have been the last day of school. Not sure. -Ken

Okay, i'll add some from elementary. I didn't have Mrs. Kent. i had Mrs. Athy. I broke a record in her class. i was paddled every single day of the school year. With about a month to go in the year, I remember that I went to school one day, and was absolutely perfect. "Yes, Mrs. Athy. No, Mrs. Athy" I even cleaned her blackboard during recess. No way was i going to get a paddling that day. With about 20 minutes to go for the day, she looks at me and orders me to go into the hallway. (Words I grew to hate!). I was dumfounded! But I went out. Here she comes, with that skinny little paddle (which i stole the last day of school). I asked her what I did wrong. Shr replied that I had been perfect all day, but there was no way we were breaking the streak! Now mind you, she was an old woman, but she knew how to get her weight into that little piece of wood. "Mrs Athy, if you are up there, reading this, I pray that there aren't paddles wherever you are."

Poor Tom! Do you still have the paddle? The Bible says there will be no tears in heaven, but I don't know about paddles!
