I remember all of these. Bob Shreve: "Wanna' see Little Chickie stretch"? Did you ever call in to say hello to anybody? I tried once, but didn't get my request on the air (just another almost in my life). I did get to speak with Bob though. Midwestern Hayride: Boy, could that Bonnie Lou yodel! ;D WSAI: only the coolest station in town; everybody who was anybody tuned in! The Paul Dixon Show: knee ticklers, and banned in Boston...the man was ahead of his time for racy programming. He made every woman feel beautiful, but I didn't see the attraction, and preferred Hattie the Witch on the other station. My sister, Sue, liked Paul Dixon. Good ol' Kash Amburgy, I was told, when I was a teen that he had once belonged to a pentecostal church that handled snakes, and had actually been bitten. I don't know how true that was, but the person who told me was close to his age, and pretty reputable. He told me to notice the black band on his hand and wrist the next time I saw his commercial. Sure enough, there was the black wrist band. Have Gun Will Travel Magilla Gorilla Peter Pottamus Cheyenne Lassie: the closing scene of that show always made me cry; Lassie seemed so sad. My Three Sons Leave It to Beaver, Father knows Best, The Donna Reed Show (little did we gals know that we were being set-up to try to vacuum the house in our high heels and pearls). Flintstones on Friday night: This was the night we'd sit in front of the TV together, eat ham sandwiches, chips and a cold bottle of soda. One of my favorite family memories; I did have a wonderful family life for the younger years of my life. That's why I missed it so much when it was gone. My parent were wonderful people who became overwhelmed with the circumstances of their lives.

Chuck, I remember the shows that you mentioned, the local programs were great. Bob Shreve was one of my favorites, remember Schoenling Beer Uncle Al , I loved it of course, along with all the characters I remember the ads for Mama’s Cookies, Barq’s , Kahn’s Weiners..I think there was some kind of moving company like Pat and Mike's ....(can't remember) and Ala-Kazam one, Ala-Kazam two, Ala-Kazam three and Poof. There was a Larry Smith, he had puppets. Bob Braun…his son Rob now is anchor man on the news. And Ruth Lyons, there is a Ruth Lyons Children’s Fund now that serves the tri-state area hospitals.
Bonnie, Iwatched all the shows that you mentioned plus a lot more, ( as far as cartoons go I watched all of them, and still do enjoy them, but I am a Looney Tunes girl, can"t beat Bug's and the gang. Thelma

remember Schoenling Beer. yes an Hudephol.. and Burger.. and Weideman,.. they were all Cincy Beers. Are they still around? When I was a kid.. and not aloud to buy beer.. Schoenling Little Kings were the beverage of choice for many teens. Do they still make those? I think you are right.. there was a moving company on there.. and speaking of advertisements.. Remember HARRY'S CORNER.. I don't care about making money.. I just love to sell carpet"I went to the Paul Dixon Show once.. myself, Denny Money and Dennis Smith went.. My mom had tickets and for some reason couldn't use them. I also went to a taping of the SKIPPER RYLE SHOW. I think with the cub scouts. and I was a contestant on a (not so great) local game show.. I think it was called "What Would You Do?" it was hosted by Wirt Cain on channel 9. I still have a plaque I was given for being on the program.

I don't know about all of them but I think Miller and Coors are around here. There are a lot of micro breweries around.
I have to admit I do enjoy throwing back a few good cold ones from time to time.. ;D
Tom, I also enjoy wine, I have a few favorites I keep on hand for when someone comes over, but I like wine tasting, you never know when you'll find something to add to your "must have list". Wine tasting in Italy must have been a wonderful experiance.....Thelma

When I was older, we also went to the Bob Braun show, ( the dance show you know) My uncle worked there some, and he got us to go. I remember it some. I don't believe we did much dancing though. that was when the short tight skirts were in and tank tops. ;D I remember wearing it so well. What times!!!!. . I remember the Harry's Corner advertisement too. and the others. I enjoyed watching the Flintstones. One of my favorite. Connie

Emily and I went to a Paul Dixon show at the Ohio State Fair one summer. I got his autograph, but I don't have it now - wish I did. Also, I wrote him a fan letter when I was 16 and he read it on the air - I was thrilled! They went through that whole bit where he would say the word "letter" and the band would immediately start playing that song that went, "I'm gonna sit right down and write myself a letter". Connie, Emily's sister took care of Bob Braun through Hospice. She said his family was super nice. Bonnie, you're right. Kash Amburgy did lose part of his thumb from that snake bite. Remember his commercial where his wife was sitting on the riding lawnmower? It was so funny! I watched Hattie The Witch too. That was a time in my life when I had two imaginary friends named Packie and Geezie. I must have gone through some kind of childhood trauma to come up with those two! Remember when Wilma Flintstone was giving birth to Peebles?

Thelma, I am so excited that you like wine. I also was very envious when Tom wrote about going to the vineyards in Italy. That sounded great. I have never been to Italy, but I have been to the party source supply store in Ky. They have wine tastings sometimes and they have lots of different wines to choose from. I enjoy reading the stories on the back of the bottles and trying to choose some different wine that I have not tried before. Of course I enjoy drinking it also, but just going and picking it out is lots of fun. I also try to keep some on hand, just in case you and Bonnie Abner would like to stop by again some time. Stop in and we'll open a bottle or two.

Nick Clooney had a show on TV for a while, I went to it and won a car wash. Unfortunatly George was not there, he would have probably been a little boy at that time, but.....I bet he was even a cutie back then .....Thelma

Oh yea, it's Looney Tunes all the way! On Uncle Al, wasn't the moving co Mayflower? Do you remember black cows, orange cows, purple cows, pink cows? There's nothing that beats a Barq's float. I make them with my grandchildren; they love them. Sadly, I can only get Barq's Root Beer in MT. Remember the Buster Brown Shoes? Quick, who remembers all the words to the mailman song? Wow, Chuck, you're an honest-to- gosh celeb! Do you remember the Earl Schibe auto paint commercials? "Come see Earl Schibe, just thirty-nine, ninety-five". Can you imagine paying $39.95 to have your car painted today? I don't know about wine and beer, but I love "Sparkling Cider". ;D Oh yes, Connie, treat us to your Uncle Al Photos! ;D Darlene, your letter must have been something special to have been read by Paul Dixon...by any chance, do you remember what it said? Just a brief summary will do. I missed the commercial with Marylou on the riding mower; that must have been something. I can see her now, wrestling with her dress, that big pentecostal hair-do, sitting on top of that riding mower like it was a Harley...it just doesn't get any better than that. Yes, I remember when Wilma was "preggers" (as Carol says) with Pebbles, they actually drew her a little pooched belly under her maternity frock; I'm surprised they didn't jerk that "trash" off the air! Tom went to a wine tasting in Italy? When did I miss that? Tom, that's soooo Catchyatorree". 8-)I drank sulfur water out of the spring in Red Lick, KY...does that count? (It was nasty, I think I'd have rather had the wine) Emily, you never know when I may "pop" in again; I can't wait to see you, but I'll bring my sparkling cider; my personality's enough w/o adding wine. ;D Thel, I remember the Nick Clooney Show; he also hosted the 4 o'clock movie. Does anybody remember "The Bowery Boys"? What was your favorite Shirley Temple movie? You know, George Clooney's all right, if you like the devastatingly handsome type. I'll bet he can't even play the spoons though, and who needs that?
