Carol, I don't think I qualify for the bloomers club, but some of the dreams Bonnie talked about sounded familiar!!!

One of the things I remember growing up was the NBC Monitor program on the weekends. I believe WLW carried it. (help me out here, Chuck) www.monitorbeacon.com/From Wikipedia: "NBC Monitor was a weekend radio program broadcast from June 12, 1955 to January 26, 1975. Aired in four-hour blocks beginning Saturday morning at 8am and continuing through the weekend until midnight on Sunday, it offered a magazine-of-the-air mix of news, sports, comedy, variety, live music, celebrity interviews and other short segments." If you ever listened to it check out the website. Lots of memories were revived for me. -Ken

Well, I guess it's time to confess...I'm not related to Pat Boone....I just told that to Brenda in the 2nd grade because she said she was related to Elvis Presley! (as she twirled her finger curls) WELL, You can see the pressure I was under!

Great gad zooks! My memory does still exists. I can remember all of everything you folks have put on this thread. A funny story about Kash Amburgy, ( yes he really did lose some fingers on one hand while handling snakes. The snake bit him and having faith ( evidently not enough faith) he kept right on preaching. By the end on his sermon his fingers had become so swollen and discolored he had to have a couple of them amputated. Now on with my story. A bunch of us local Kings guys were hanging around at the old gym for a basketball game. Up Kash pulls in his big white Caddy. I tell my friends" watch this". I run over to Kash and start piling it on thick! "Are you THE Kash Amburgy" I asked knowing full well who he was. I went on to tell him I thought he was a great man and how privileged I was to meet him and could I please shake his hand. My friends just sat on the steps watching all this transpire laughing their butts off the whole time. Kash sooooooooooooooo flattered he pulled his wallet out and gave me Five dollars. That was a lot 'o dough pre 1967." Tell everybody at Frisch's tonight 'ol Kash bought your dinner " He was so proud of himself and I chuckled with every bite that night. Kash liked to brag " I'm better known on the streets of Jerusalem then I an right here in good 'ol South Lebanon. You know, I bet he was! So just remember folks to 'Take I-71 north to the route 48 exit to South Lebanon, then follow the cars, follow the signs, to Kash's Big Bargain Barn, where you save cash with Kash!

Steve, You are right about Kash. I also heard his first wife died in childbirth. When my parents moved from their Kash Amburgy house that they have lived in over 30 yrs Kash stopped by that day & told them goodbye and shook their hand.He had a dream of building a nice, inexpensive home & nice community & I believe he tried to do that. When all of you guys were buying your first cars after we graduated,I bought a piano instead from Kash. He sat down with me & talked business. Then He send movers to move that piano several times after that & now my grandkids are the ones that play it most. I remember playing behind those Kash's signs. Thanks for the memory!! Carol

Yeah, say what you will about ol' Kash; and I used to get a "kick" out of him too, But the ol' country boy had a dream and he made it happen...It seems that we're the ones who reaped the most benefit though...growing up and attending school together, in that wonderful little town. Bonnie

Speaking of Kash D....
I remember visiting his Bargain Barn as a boy with my parents. I was surprised to see a teacher working there part time in the evenings. It was Clayton Montgomery. Mr. Montgomery struck me as a nice man. He called all the kids, boys and girls alike, "Honey". I never had him as a teacher. Just saw him around the school. Any other reflections on Mr. Montgomery out there?

Ken, believe it or not, Clayton Montgomery is in my sister's sewing club! Actually, his wife is in the club, but he hangs out with the ladies every week, and my sister says he nearly talks them to death! When my husband passed away, he came to the visitation and talked to me for what seemed like an hour. I kept thinking, 'who is this man?' My sister told me later who he was. He's nice, even though his spool of thread is wound a little tight!
