I don't remember the skating rink there, but when we moved to TN in 1990, and the skating rink in Jamestown opened, me and my daughter would go about 3 times a week. I did pretty good, considering Then 1 New Years Eve night, I got tripped and fell. Boy did it hurt. I went back a few times after that, but didn't skate much. Now I haven't been in a few years. But I did enjoy it for a few years. Really good exercize. Connie

Hey Carol, I'm here! I don't have a computer at home, so I have to wait until I get to work to catch up on all the weekend chatter! I am sooooo glad that Brenda has forgiven me - it made my day to find that out! A couple of years ago my church had a skating party at the old rink. It was fun to see it again, and it brought back a lot of memories. I could never skate too good (I looked like I had been stricken with polio!) but I was always in awe of those who could. I would just hang out on the sidelines waiting for some cute guy to skate over and talk to me. It was a lonely wait!

the last time I was on skates, I fell on my tailbone, couldn't move my legs for a few seconds! I decided that God was trying to tell me to grow up and be a responsable parent. I started thinking about what could have happened, got scared and have never gotten back on skates again! That has been about 25 years ago!

Yes,Yes Eileen, BUT- Do you have a skating skirt that says"Let's Go Skating" and a skate box to match??? (I bet not)
I heard that when people get old and want to "go fast" they drive motorcycles. Is that true??

Of course I remember, and you absolutely had to change the angora yarn on the ring to match your outfit the next day...the fellas' had no clue what we went through for them, did they Girls? I still own a pair of skates, too, Eileen. Gil asked me what I wanted for Christmas one year, and I said, "roller Skates". He said, "you mean, after 15 years of marriage, all you want is a pair of roller skates"? They're packed and stored, of course, but I still have them. ;D Whatever do you mean, Gary?...you don't really want to get into "it" with the Kingshigh proboard female mafia, do you? Of course you don't... Now, repeat after me..."I will not reveal anything that I see, hear, smell, or taste in this hallowed place". Now, there's a good boy... Bonnie

Funny thing about skates-Just last summer I decided I had to have some "real" skates. I tried the in line skates & just can't do it. SO, we searched on Ebay & got a pair. I went outside on the side walk one day & thought I would break my neck or have a heart attack before I got to the safety of the grass.I do occassionally whirl around in the basement & the grandkids think it's so funny-Heck -sometimes I'll even pick up my baton & twirl at the same time. They think MawMaw is crazy!!

Bonnie, I'm sitting here, reading this. I don't know what to say, other than "I'm sorry". You will be missed. You have made each one of us laugh and smile. A lot! Our prayers and thoughts are with the two of you. Tom

Barb, I remember putting the angora yarn on our class rings. It sure took time putting it on to match our outfits. But it was worth it You're right, memories do keep coming back. I think this site is the best thing for all of us. Connie
