Count me in, Guys. I think that is a wonderful idea! It might bring some closure to be able to take some positive steps. Those in our group who are musically inclined might want to share musically, too. Bon

Carol to the best of my recollection in he was interred at the cemetery in South Lebanon. As to where, I have no clue. As for the "dance" your quite welcome, it was my honor. I want everyone to know, Carol was NOT one of the ladies fondling my whatcacall'ems! ( I think) LOL

I am trying to find out more information on Harmon's death. I put in a request to the Sheriff's Office and Coroner's Office, and I'll let you know when I hear from them. There are two of our classmates that have passed who are buried in Deerfield Cemetery. but there may be some of the others that I don't know about. I will try to find out that information too. I think that a yearly memorial to them is a wonderful idea.

I heard back from the Sheriff's Office, and they reported that they didn't have records dating back that far. That surprised me. The death certificate, which I can't publish the original here, states that his death was a homicide. The Coroner's Report says that an autopsy was done, yet there is no autopsy report on file. The report says that the victim was found dead in a field, partially skeletonized, with gunshot wound in head. They estimated the date of death August 22, 1967. There ARE a lot of unanswered questions about his death. If this was a homicide, then why is the case not still open? I plan to check in the Genealogy Dept. for anything they might have on microfilm, but that's as far as I'll be able to go. It is disturbing that this boy was murdered and someone got away with it. Someone suggested that I report it to the show, Cold Case Files, but I don't know about that. I'll let you know if I find out anything else. I'm really curious now.

Wow Darlene -- I remember the incident well because back then, these things didn't happen that often. So much of this sounds very fishy to me. The story I remember I don't even want to post on here because it was so long ago, I might be wrong, but I remember what I heard. I really wish someone like Cold Case would look into it, but I would not know how to go about it.

I haven't been able to come up with any more records, and since the autopsy report and police report don't seem to exist, I don't know if the Cold Case people could come up with anything more. What do you all think? I wouldn't want to contact them if I knew that it would hurt his family in any way. I did speak to someone who remembers some of the story. It seems he was skipping school at the time with another boy (I won't mention a name here). They happened on a parked police car with an officer and a woman inside. They started running across the field, and the officer fired at them. The investigators may have questioned the officer at the time, I don't know. But, it's funny the other boy didn't come forward then and still hasn't. I found out that Harmon's birth date is May 26, 1951, and he was born in Virginia. One report says is death was "immediate".

Does anyone know -- I seem to remember that he was a new student. Is that the case?

You know guys, for all of my great memories, I'm ashamed to say that I do not remember this boy, or even the event of his death...It makes me sad to realize that his young life was tragically over, and I knew nothing of it. On top of this, the circumstances are sounding more and more questionable. If this kid was killed because he saw something he shouldn't have, then I would like to see it uncovered. However, Darlene's right...the family may not want to dredge it up again. How can we find out? Or, should we even try to find out? If it was my brother, I would want the truth to come out.
Great detective work, Darlene...

Bonnie, Harmon's picture is in our 8th Grade Graduation photo, he's standing behind you and me. He is in the top row. I believe he started some time in the 8th grade......I'm not really sure...I remember him because his name was Halcomb....but we were not related.......Thelma
