I would love to uncover the Truth about his death. It has always bothered me about the way it happened. back then, there wasn't a lot to do about it, but maybe now, who knows! and I"m all for going to the cemetery to give him a proper memorial. He may not have been a popular kid, but he didn't deserve to have that happen to him!

I think it's a lovely idea; a chance to do something right for one of our classmates.
*Then Chinese Fire Drill after, of course...

Chuck, I have walked all over that cementary and have never seen a marker but it could be a very tiny one, if on at all. If he is at SL the trustees should have a record of it. I'm not any good at doing 'searches' on the internet to look for any of his sisters. their names are listed in the artical. any suggestions?

I just made a phone call to the SL Police dept. Just so happens Darlene (Allen) and Jim Bishop's son is a officer there. I told him what I needed (info about where or if Harman is burried there). He is going to call someone that was on the fire dept. back then (also he would know this info) Bob Napier. I'm wait for the call!

I just got of the phone with Bob ( aka;Bobby) Napier, he found no record of 'Harmon Halcomb' at the cementaty, but that 'Pansie Sue Halcomb' (a creamation) was birried at the foot of a grave at the Columbia Rd. cemetary. plot D grave D5 on March 27, 2007. owner of the plot is 'Grace Bishop'. Bob was very interested in this. he remembered hearing stories as a kid and being scared to death of a 'paricular officer'. He is helping to get more info. This is really getting interesting!

Bobby called back.... found a record... Harmon is burried @ SL cementary. Enter @ 2nd gate, past the King Monument, in curve on the right (next to road). there is a marker. One mystery is salved!

I just found this article on Ancestry.com. It was in the Mansfield, OH newspaper dated 8/6/1969. Harmon was shot at the corner of Western Row Road and Columbia Road. His body was found by the daughter of the farmer who was harvesting the field. I lived nearby and heard a lot of talk about this. But I was unaware of the civil suit. I didn't know Harmon Monroe Halcomb but I think of him and what was done to him every time I pass that place now. Sheriff Kennard is now deceased. I don't know about Fred Collett. I heard Collett's wife or another woman was in his car and that Collett was off-duty when this happened. Don't know if this is true. I found quite a bit of Harmon's family information on Ancestry.com. I am fairly sure that his short life was not easy. Attachments:

I went to the cemetery today to visit my mom and dad's graves.. I looked a little for Harmon's.. but didn't find it. I couldn't remember where Shelia said it was located. Tried to call Shelia.. but she wouldn't answer her phone. She must have known who was calling!!!!
